UNPAR.AC.ID, Bandung – The Civil Engineering Study Program of Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) through the Community Service Program carried out landslide repair activities using Geofoam and MacMat HS technology at the Al Husainiyyah Muthoyyibah Foundation Complex. The service has been completed, marked by the inauguration which was carried out on Monday (29/7/2024).
Also involved in the service were donors including: UNPAR Civil Engineering Alumni Association (IATS); PT Maccaferri Indonesia; PT CND Geoteknika; PT Enjiniring Pilar Cakrawala; PT Dinar Makmur; PT PP (Persero) Tbk; and PT Naraya Anugerah Santosa.
Huda Triana S.Pd as the Head of the Landslide Repair Implementation Committee at the Al Husainiyyah Foundation said that the landslide itself occurred on April 23, 2023. Not long after, UNPAR also visited and communicated regarding the problems experienced by the surrounding community.
“The landslide repair was thanks to the support of UNPAR, especially from Mr. Aswin and Mr. Helmy. In May, Mr. Aswin and his association visited our school. We were moved to establish communication and welcomed them well,” he said.
He also responded to the Geofoam and MacMat HS technology that was also used in the landslide repair. He stated that this was a new concept that was actually a blessing in the face of the disaster that occurred.
“This is a new concept for us. Handling landslides should not be done with gabion fortifications, it turns out there is a new breakthrough from UNPAR. We received a blessing in the face of the disaster, and were also given by good people,” he said.
Furthermore, Aswin Lim, Ph.D. as the Head of the UNPAR Community Service Committee to the Al Husainiyyah Foundation explained that his heart was moved to help thanks to the spirit possessed by UNPAR.
“While we were studying at UNPAR, we held fast to the values taught by our founding father, namely ‘Bakuning Hyang Mrih Guna Santyaya Bhakti’ which means based on Godliness, seeking knowledge to be devoted to society. That is our principle, we do not see anything else,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prof. Tri Basuki Joewono, Ph.D as the Chancellor of UNPAR expressed his gratitude for the communication that had been established so that UNPAR could contribute to the surrounding community.
“As good as UNPAR is or as big as UNPAR is, it will be even better when it is useful. Thank you very much for contacting and telling us that UNPAR can contribute,” said the Rector of UNPAR. (KTH-PR UNPAR)
